When news of this LEGO® release hit, the Light My Bricks team immediately got to work, inspired by both a love of Stranger Things lore and the epic potential of the set.
The goal? To make the Creel House not just a display, but an immersive Stranger Things LEGO experience. And so began the creation of the Light My Bricks Creel House Light Kit.
Transforming Hawkins Into the Upside Down
Designing this Stranger Things LEGO lighting kit was a thrilling challenge because the Creel House isn’t just a static LEGO set. It moves, it opens, it transforms, and the lighting needed to move with it. The goal was to create two completely different atmospheres: the familiar, cozy world of Hawkins, and the eerie, twisted Upside Down LEGO display, where Vecna’s Mind Lair awaits.
The kit features two lighting modes that switch automatically as the house opens and closes. Hawkins Mode provides warm, inviting light for a real-world feel. Upside Down Mode floods the house with red, sinister lighting and pulsing blue spores, capturing the iconic moment when Vecna pulls his victims into his interdimensional lair.
This seamless effect is powered by two Flux Touch Plates. The first plate activates when the house is closed, delivering the warm Hawkins lighting. As the set opens, the first plate disconnects and the second plate activates instantly, bringing the red lights and blue spores of the Upside Down LEGO experience to life.
Lighting the Real World of Hawkins
Hawkins Mode uses 8 Astro lights inside the Creel House. Some sit in lamps, while others are placed in the ceiling as downlights. Subtle pulsing effects hint at the supernatural, suggesting that the Demogorgon or Vecna could be quietly moving through the world… even if you can’t see them.
Outside, the LEGO lamp post is replaced with a fully lit White Astro lamp post to complete the realistic scene. Every window, hallway, and room glows as if the Creel family still lives there, giving fans a LEGO Stranger Things display that feels alive and atmospheric.
Entering the Upside Down
When the set switches to Upside Down Mode, the house transforms instantly. 7 red spotlights with Light My Bricks’ signature scary effect illuminate every corner, creating the tense, dramatic feeling of Vecna’s Mind Lair LEGO scene.
Adding to the effect is a custom blue LED string light with nineteen pulsing LEDs. These twinkle like floating spores, recreating one of the most iconic visuals from Stranger Things and giving the house that eerie, otherworldly Upside Down vibe.
Lighting the Vehicles
The kit also lights the vehicles. Both Steve’s BMW and the Radio Van feature Warm White headlights and red taillights. Each can be powered independently using the included Power Bricks or tethered to the Creel House system to sync perfectly with the rest of the Stranger Things LEGO display.
