Brings R2D2 to life!
Although R2D2's head needs to be taken apart quite a bit, I must say I was pleasantly surprised by this kit's difficulty level: the empty room inside R2's head offered sufficient space to wire everything together without too much hassle. Although I like the end result a lot, and R2D2 really comes to life with light and sound, I think the set has a couple (minor) flaws:
- The two little blue lights at the front blink very fast. A slower fade-in-fade-out blink would be better suited in my opinion.
- R2D2 sure is hyperactive! All his sounds play right after each other, without any pause. It's as if the poor droid has ADHD, or had a caffeine overdose xD Perhaps I will add some dummy "empty" tracks to the SD card some day. With the out of the box setup, he goes through his repertoire very fast.
The kit comes with a spare white light, which I ended up attaching to his middle leg. This lights up his feet and achieves a similar result as with the BD-1 set. Try it out if you don't know what to do with the spare light.
