I love the lighting design especially the wireless connectors and the ability for my child to still be able to play with the set without too much care/interference.
A few constructive feedback points:
- WATCH OUT FOR THE MICRO BIT EXPANSION BOARDS vs. the standard. The instructions say to pay attention to the orientation of the plug but didn't highlight that plugging the micro bit lights into the standard expansion board would fry the micro bit lights. The first power on test (step 10) resulted in me burning out ~12 micro bit lights which cost me an additional ~$45 to replace. The micro bit lights could benefit from a poka yoke (mistake-proofed) plug differentiated from the standard bit plug but otherwise I love the size/ease of install under transparent studs when compared to the standard size bit lights.
- Some errors exist in the instructions ranging from the wrong color of lights being referenced in the parts list at the beginning (i.e. warm white for strip lights and micro bit are just white), to missing yellow boxes when new parts are supposed to be used (e.g. strip light in step 48, p 74), to incomplete sentences (e.g. note for step 13, p 25 ends mid-word.
- The instructions for what expansion boards the 75+ lights are supposed to be installed in are difficult to follow at times especially when multiple expansion boards are involved or connections from several steps or pages prior are mentioned. It would be helpful to label those connections for easier recall later…
